OFFICIAL COMMUNIQUÉ

THE WARRANTEE COMMISSION WANTS TO BLOCK THE GENERAL STRIKE

Intolerable provocation from the “Warrantee Commision on the Strike Right” against the general strike on the 2nd April, convoked by the rank and file unionism to give an end to the war.

All five rank and file organisations CUB, COBAS, SIN COBAS, SLAI COBAS, USI-IWA that have proclaimed general strike for the 2nd April, received yesterday evening a small brief signed by the new President to the Warrantee Commission on the Strike Right, Martone, by which, and referring to a preceding Sentence, they prevent all services ruled by the Law 146/90 (almost the entire public administration services, schools and transports etc) from joining the strike. BUT SUCH A SENTENCE, IN FACT, DOES NOT
EXIST!!!.

CUB, COBAS, SIN COBAS, SLAI COBAS, USI-IWA understand this as a true provocation, a wrong attempt to impede the workers to strike to stop the war. A clear demonstration that they are trying to make an instrument of the war atmosphere, in order to impose a repression on rights and spaces for freedom.

What president Martone offers as a Sentence is nothing but an admonishment issued by the Commission as a consequence of an audition in December 2001 with CGIL, CISL and Uil and, therefore, it has no imperative value at all, nor cannot in any way be assimilated to a Sentence.

It is quite evident that Martone bends the law about the strike right to his own convenience, with the hidden intention to block the initiative of strike against the war.
CUB, COBAS, SIN COBAS, SLAI COBAS, USI-IWA do not intend to renounce to the GENERAL STRIKE on the 2nd April at all, and we invite all workers, students, Rsu and movements against the war to take part massively at the many demonstrations organized in all main Italian cities, also with the aim to give a response to those who want to eliminate the strike among the scene of the Italian workers rights.
