Two comrades, members of the CNT pickets in Valencia, face
imprisonment penalties.

Two comrades, members of the CNT pickets in Valencia (during the strike on the 20 June), face imprisonment penalties.

On the 17th and 19th of February 2004, two comrades will be judged for their action in the pickets organised by the CNT in Valencia, for the strike on the 20th June 2003, against the politics of attack to worker rights on the side of the government. The first of the cases, a comrade faces one year and a half imprisonment penalty for “public disorder”. The trial will take place on the 17th February at 11.45 am at the Juzgado de lo Penal (Penal Court) number 6 in Valencia.

Another comrade faces three years and a half imprisonment and a fine of 2,340 Euro for crime “against workers right” and a fine for offence to the public order for 180 Euro, at the trial that will take place on the 19th February a.m. at the Juzgado de lo Penal (Penal
Court) number 3 in Valencia.

The Valencia CNT gives total solidarity to the comrades and denounces the repression that the working class, as a whole, is suffering when claiming for its more basic working rights. This kind of actions show that the right to strike and to form pickets only exist in a symbolic way, and that any slightly spirited attitude is repressed with the maximum harshness the state is able to. These processes do nothing but accelerating the freedom-cutting spiral that our country is suffering the last years. Therefore, the CNT demands the comrades acquittal and reminds everybody that, despite all repression, it will continue on struggling against the government and employers abuses.
