More on the attacks against the CNT-AIT and the principles of anarcho-syndicalism

When the Spanish Section of CIT decided to bring multiple lawsuits against the CNT-AIT some years ago, it was very important how they did it. The Secretary of the CNT-CIT, Enrique Hoz, hired a lawyer who filed these suits – without the mandate of the organization to do it.

This says everything about the Spanish Section of the CIT. In anarcho-syndicalism, Secretaries are not mandated to make any decision they feel like by themselves, especially one so controversial. Such things should go before the membership as a proposal first.

Those who are in the CNT-AIT know this problem because not so long ago, many of them were in the CNT-AIT together, before the Spanish Section of CIT stopped being the CNT-AIT. This was a major problem then, as it is a major problem now. If it is not seen as a problem by parts of their membership, it just shows that they are not really interested in maintaining an anarcho-syndicalist practice.

IWA Days of Solidarity with the CNT-AIT Spain

The CNT-AIT is an anarcho-syndicalist union, known to many people around the world. Unfortunately, for several years now, it has come under attack by another organization,
the Spanish affiliate of CIT, which also claims the name CNT.

These attacks, which are vindictive in nature, threaten not only the CNT-AIT, but also the historical traditions of anarcho-syndicalism in Spain. They are carried out through the statist apparatus and threaten to see members of the CNT-AIT put in jail. Their aim is to receive money and property from the CNT-AIT in order to destroy that organization.

The IWA considers an attack on any of our comrades to be an attack on all of us, so we stand united in calling for an end to these outrageous legal actions.

IWA Jornadas de Solidaridad con la CNT-AIT España

La CNT-AIT es un sindicato anarcosindicalista, conocido por muchas personas en todo el mundo. Desafortunadamente, desde hace varios años, ha sido atacado por otra organización, la Sección española de la CIT, que también reclama el nombre CNT.

Estos ataques, de carácter vengativo, amenazan no sólo a la CNT-AIT, sino también a las tradiciones históricas del anarcosindicalismo en España. Se llevan a cabo a través del aparato estatista y amenazan con encarcelar a unxs miembrxs de la CNT-AIT. Su objetivo es recibir dinero y propiedades de la CNT-AIT para destruir esa organización.

La AIT considera que un ataque a cualquiera de nuestrxs compañerxs es un ataque a todxs nosotrxs, por lo que nos unimos para exigir el fin de estas escandalosas acciones legales.

Impressions from the „100 Years of the IWA/AIT“ event in Košice

Our second major event planned in relation to the IWA-AIT centenary took place on 1st April in Collosseum Club in Košice. Thanks to the feedback we got after the first event in Bratislava we were able to improve the IWA history presentation, and the discussion with delegations from SolFed (UK), WAS (Austria), General Secretary of the IWA from Poland and PA was more brisky and content-wise also more compact.

Impressions from the „100 Years of the IWA/AIT“ event in Bratislava

It was not easy to organise an event with international participation and completely new stuff that had to be prepared (presentation on the history of the IWA, PA history exhibition), but our impressions are mainly positive. To a large extent, this is because other people have been involved in the preparations thanks to discussions and planning that took place at our open meetings.

Uplynulý rok bol dosť pestrý a náročný zároveň. Okrem viacerých problémov na pracoviskách sme sa pomerne intenzívne pripravovali na 28. kongres Medzinárodnej asociácie pracujúcich (MAP) v Španielsku. Podporili sme viacero aktivít na Slovensku aj v zahraničí, zapojili sme sa do finančných zbierok a postarali sme sa o prípravu Medzinárodného týždňa proti nevyplácaniu miezd. A to nebolo všetko. The past year has been quite varied and challenging at the same time. In addition to a number of workplace issues, we have been preparing quite intensively for the 28th Congress of the International Workers` Association (IWA/AIT) in Spain. We supported a number of activities in Slovakia and abroad, took part in fundraising events and took care of the preparation of the International Week Against Unpaid Wages. And there was more. ¡El 28º Congreso de la AIT celebra el Centenario de la Asociación Internacional de Trabajadores en Solidaridad!

Del 9 al 11 de diciembre de 2022, la Asociación Internacional de Trabajadores realizó su Congreso internacional en la ciudad de Alcoi, España. Llegaron delegadxs de todo el mundo y nos alegró especialmente ver un gran número de compañerxs de América del Sur, Asia y la región de Asia-Pacífico. Cientos de personas visitaron el evento y acompañaron los programas culturales organizados en los días previos y durante el Congreso. El salón estaba lleno de gente y se podían conseguir publicaciones de todo el mundo.

El trabajo del Congreso fue bastante intenso y duró los tres días completos en la sala repleta de delegadxs. Varios compañerxs que no pudieron viajar también se unieron a nosotrxs en línea.

Durante el Congreso, pudimos discutir los resultados presentados por los grupos de trabajo, como el grupo responsable de desarrollar estrategias para organizaciones más nuevas y más pequeñas para aumentar las actividades de organización en el lugar de trabajo. Se presentó un texto al Congreso que esperamos sea de utilidad para las Secciones y Amigos.

The 28th IWA Congress celebrates the International Workers' Association Centenary in Solidarity!

On December 9-11, 2022, the International Workers' Association held its international Congress in the city of Alcoy, Spain. Delegates arrived from around the globe and we were particularly glad to see a large number of comrades from South America, Asia and the Asia-Pacific Region. Hundreds of people visited the event and accompanying cultural programs organized in the days leading up to and during the Congress. The hall was full of people and one could get publications from all over the world.

The work of the Congress was rather intense and lasted the full three days in the room packed with delegates. A number of comrades who were not able to travel also joined us online.

During the Congress, we were able to discuss the results presented by working groups, such as the group responsible for developing stategies for newer and smaller organizations to increase workplace organizing activities. A text was presented to the Congress which we hope the Sections and Friends will find useful.

Great news from the 28th Congress of the International Workers` Association

Between 9th and 11th December the 28th regular IWA Congress took place in Alcoi, Spain. For delegations, it was undoubtedly exhausting since the agenda was long and demanding. Nevertheless, the Congress was exceptional. This was mainly because of the number of delegations and the program prepared by the Congress Committee of the CNT-AIT in Alcoi. It was really a dignified commemoration of 100 years since the founding of IWA in December 1922.
